Buloke Energy was founded to pursue wholesale power investments in diversified generation technologies to meet this rising energy demand and facilitate efficient capital investment into the growth and reliability of the power grid.

Our Name

“Buloke”, or Bull-Oak, is a species of tree from south-east Australia known for producing the hardest wood in the world, with a Janka hardness rating of 3,760 lbf.

Matthew Kelly

President

Matthew is a seasoned power industry professional with experience across grid operations, asset management, trading and marketing, risk management, origination, analytics, transmission planning, and regulatory policy.

Prior to founding Buloke, Matthew co-founded Hatch Renewables where he served as Vice President overseeing investment strategies, business development, and asset management activities. Matthew previously led market analytics for Avantus, managed the Day-Ahead and Real-Time Trading Desk for Talen Energy, and traded a proprietary power and gas portfolio for BP. Matthew began his career in transmission planning and market compliance at ERCOT.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, focused on Power Systems, from the University of Texas at Austin.

Sean Dunderdale

Director of Business Development

Sean is a practiced energy professional with experience across renewable development, trading and risk management, and commercial structuring.

Prior to Buloke, Sean worked as the Commercial Associate at Hatch Renewables, where he managed origination, structuring, and market analytics. Sean previously oversaw all development, marketing, and procurement activities for a 9GW solar portfolio at BP and worked as a Rotational Analyst in BP’s Gas & Power Trading Development Program where he held roles in credit structuring, market risk, and trade valuations. Sean began his career in construction engineering and logistics, building large-scale projects throughout the NY metro area.

Sean holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Geology from Tulane University and a Master of Energy Finance from Tulane’s A.B. Freeman Business School.
